![]() ![]() If you don't mind the cost, and want a Microsoft hard drive, I would suggest buying it retail directly from Amazon who sometimes puts it on sale around $113 or in that range, or even going to your local Wal-Mart, both will sell ONLY licensed hard drives from Microsoft. The 250GB, 500GB can be bought by purchasing the XBOX consoles they come w/ only or used through someone who purchased the console and is selling their hard drive, so NO ONE can claim they have a NEW MICROSOFT HD that is anything but 320GB. ![]() To be super specific though, the key is in the details, if a seller is selling multiple hard drives of varying memory capacities etc, then be careful because Microsoft only markets the 320GB for purchase aftermarket by itself. Browse some of their other inventory checking to see if the price they are quoting on the hard drive is in line w/their pricing of like valued items etc. In any case make sure that the seller is reputable, and check their return policy in the event that something does come up. You can buy a used Microsoft hard drive to save money as well. I just checked, and unfortunately the vendor 'Friends and Family Auctions' whom I purchased mine from does not have another currently, but vendors like them are the way to go if you want a real Microsoft hard drive, and you want to save a few bucks getting one. Honestly that is like an Elite Black Friday special, because the MSRP is $129.99, and you can expect something to be fake if someone is selling one for dirt cheap. I got VERY lucky by finding my hard drive (new 320 GB Microsoft) from a vendor on Amazon who sold me a new one I believe for just under $80 after shipping and tax. is this hard drive Original, factory sealed (someone did not open the hard drive case replacing the original with a knockoff and stuck it in an OEM case), and is the hard drive licensed by Microsoft. I can say I spent several hours researching vendors selling hard drives and I would send the potential sellers messages asking them specific information such as. An non Microsoft hard drive IS much cheaper, unfortunately in both price and craftsmanship! But the choice is yours, and with enough information and knowing what to look for, you will come out on top. If you do purchase an aftermarket hard drive I strongly suggest not buying one w/ low storage capacity, not because of game play but because of product quality product, I'd suggest at least a 120 GB hard drive, as the actual hard drive inside the enclosure would have been crafted to take on some heavy memory support IE it will be higher quality, where as a 20/30 GB will be thrown together. If you just want a decent amount of memory to play random games you purchase then buying an off brand hard drive is okay, just make sure the vendor is reputable, and their reviews are, for the most part, positive. If you want something to take care of your memory problem virtually forever then get a 320 GB hard drive Officially Licensed by Microsoft. I will mention later in this message memory sizes and options, use that info to help you decide, if you haven't already made a purchase. Depending on the amount of time, and what kind of games you play is going to answer what you need to buy.
